May 1 hearing set for Ethiopian maid in girl’s murder

KUWAIT CITY, April 11: The Criminal Court adjourned to May 1 the hearing of a case filed against an Ethiopian woman who was accused of murdering her employer’s daughter in Jaber Al-Ali. The court adjourned the case in order to obtain a medical report on the sanity of the defendant. According to the case files, the suspect murdered the sponsor’s girl on November 17, 2011, one day before the victim’s wedding inside her house, and severed the head from the body. Even though the suspect tried to leave the country, the officers from General Department for Criminal Evidences managed to arrest her at the airport.
Meanwhile, the Misdemeanor Court has adjourned until May 15 the hearing on a case filed by former Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Al- Mohammad against columnist Mohammad Al-Washihi. It has been reported that the former premier’s lawyer, Attorney Emad Al- Saif, had filed a lawsuit against Al- Washihi for posting statements deemed offensive to his client on Twitter.

However, the accused denied the charge when he first appeared in court. In another case, the Misdemeanor Court adjourned to May 15 the hearing of a case filed against former MP Waleed Al-Tabtabaei for participating in an unlicensed rally that was held in Kaifan. The court adjourned the case for the presence of the officer-incharge at the court session.
The court also adjourned to May 15 a similar case filed against Al- Tabtabaei for the announcement of the second suspect. And, the Criminal Court presided over by Judge Adnan Al-Jasser acquitted a Kuwaiti citizen who was accused of possessing and consuming drugs as well as driving his vehicle under the influence of drugs. Attorney Ali Al-Wawan requested the court to acquit his client, claiming with evidences that the procedures taken to arrest and inspect his client were illegal.
